Privacy & Cookies.
Switchcom Distribution complies with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). This is the working version of our privacy notice; the formal POPIA manual is published separately.
What we collect
When you contact us, open a trade account or place an order, we collect: your name and surname, business name (where applicable), email, phone number, billing and delivery addresses, and order history. We may collect IP address and browser metadata for security and analytics.
Why we collect it
To respond to enquiries, fulfil orders, manage trade accounts, comply with tax and customs obligations, and detect abuse of our systems.
What we don't do
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share contact details with vendors or marketing partners without your explicit consent. We do not store card numbers — payments are tokenised by Stripe / Ozow / PayFast.
Cookies
Strictly-necessary cookies (session, CSRF) are always set. Analytics cookies (Plausible, anonymised) require your consent via the cookie banner. No third-party advertising cookies are set.
Your rights under POPIA
You have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, correct it, request deletion (where we are not legally required to retain it), and lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator if you believe your rights have been breached.
Data retention
We retain personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose it was collected, with one statutory exception: order and invoice records are kept for 7 years to comply with the South African Revenue Service audit requirement (section 29 of the Tax Administration Act).
